Techart goes air-cooled for the first time with the GTclassic
For nearly four decades Techart has been known for tuning modern Porsches. Now it has turned to an older car for the first time. The GTclassic is an air-cooled 911, and Gear Patrol reports that it's based on the 964.
What's in it
- An air-cooled, naturally aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six with up to 380 PS in its strongest form.
- Forged 18-inch Retrosport wheels, a new take on the Fuchs design: 8.5 inches wide at the front, 10 at the rear.
- A ducktail spoiler, one-piece LED tail lights and a centre exhaust.
- High-performance suspension, turbo brakes and motorsport engine mounts.
- Clubsport seats, plus Apple CarPlay through the Porsche Classic Radio.
How many and how much
Gear Patrol, citing Techart's social media, says only 11 will be built. Techart's own page doesn't give a number, and no price or delivery date has been announced.
Our take
Restomods split the air-cooled crowd, and that's fine. Whether you'd rather have this or an honest car with its original patina, it's another sign of how much life people still see in these old cars.
