A 911 SC is among the Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge finalists
Porsche Cars North America has named the finalists of its sixth Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge. Sixty entries competed for nine places, three in each of three categories: Preservation, Restoration and Individualization. The final is on 9 and 10 October in Fayetteville, Georgia, with the cars on show at Luftgekühlt.
The one we noticed first
Porsche Englewood's finalist is a 1980 911 SC Targa called The Gentleman's Outlaw. It's finished in Oak Green Metallic, with a reworked 3.0-litre engine and a rebuilt transmission with a limited-slip differential.
The other finalists
- Porsche Mechanicsburg: 2003 911 Carrera 4S (996)
- Porsche Beachwood: 1969 912 Targa with a soft rear window
- Porsche Orlando: 1997 911 Carrera 2 (993) with a 4.0-litre engine
- Porsche Cary: 2001 Boxster
- Harper Porsche: 1978 930 Turbo
- Porsche Tucson: 1973 914
- Gaudin Porsche Las Vegas: 1996 911 Turbo (993)
- Porsche San Francisco: 2003 911 Carrera 4S
Why we like it
Look at that list. A Boxster and a 996 sit next to a 930 and a 912. A car doesn't have to be rare or expensive to be worth saving, and the SC's place on it makes us happy for obvious reasons.
